Iris Shea and Heather Watts, both members of Mainland South Heritage Society,  have uncovered the stories of hundreds of prisoners of war, refugees and fever victims who were once unwilling residents of Melville Island’s prison. Some of them were buried under the pines of Deadman’s Island. Abundantly illustrated, this book reveals the prison buildings of the past and the ghosts of Deadman’s Island.
